Alex Shipman

Alex was born in Georgia where he was raised in a similar environment as the people he is working with in Lincoln Village. After coming to Christ at Valdosta State in Georgia, he began to sense a call to ministry. His heart was being led towards either campus ministry or pastoral ministry. Later on, he began to get a clear vision and heart from God to begin working with the Church.

After college, Alex was invited by a friend to help with a church plant in Greenville, SC. He began interning as the Outreach Coordinator at Redeemer Presbyterian in Greenville while also working at Chick-fil-A.

During this time, Alex began attending seminary at Reformed Theological Seminary. In 2002, he met his future wife, Wyketa, at a wedding and married her in 2005.

2006 brought a move to Decatur, Alabama where he eventually ended up as the Mercy Ministries Intern for Decatur Presbyterian.

Soon after this, Alex met Mark Stearns, the director of Lincoln Village Ministry and was introduced to Lincoln Village through a DVD presentation.

At the same time that Alex’s interest in Lincoln Village was piqued, Mark Stearns began “courting” Alex, attempting to stir his interest in potentially becoming the pastor of The Village Church.

After experiencing Lincoln Village and meeting the ministry’s staff, Alex and Wyketa spent some time praying and talking. It became clear very quickly that the Lord was leading them to become a part of the Lincoln Village family.

In 2008, Alex completed seminary and became the pastor of The Village Church.

Alex’s hope and prayer is to be a godly husband and father and a faithful minister to The Village Church.
